Since I was a child, I’ve always wished that I could freeze moments in time. Little did I know that discovering my late uncle’s old Minolta SR-T 101 35mm camera would enable me to capture these moments – and change the course of my professional career.
While working in the retail clothing industry, I found that old camera in one of my grandfather’s cupboards one day. I started tinkering with it to figure out how it worked and soon got the hang of it.
My passion for photography was ignited and, with my growing knowledge of the technical aspects, I knew my future was in photography.
My break came when a friend of mine, Don Maskell, suggested I get more serious about photography and persuaded me to try and shoot an upcoming wedding. I did – and the couple was delighted with the results. The rest, as they say, is history . . .
