Petra was referred to me by a friend earlier this year and from chatting to her over Whats App, I knew I was going to be in for a treat whilst photographing her wedding to Shane. Being researchers, the couple work a lot in other countries and when Shane proposed to Petra in Mongolia, she bought an amazing teal coloured silk to make her wedding dress with, that was designed and made by Jacqueline Partridge from Mystic Rose in Cape Town. Bonamanzi Game Reserve provided the perfect setting for Shane who is a crowned eagle expert. After the previous day’s rain had cleared the skies were crisp and things were well and truly underway. Guests chipped in to give a hand with setting up the decor and did a sterling job of it! The bride did her own hair and make-up and carried a posy of indigenous flowers from a friend’s garden. After the brief, non-religious blessing, everyone went over to the boma, overlooking the dam and enjoyed an amazing supper before either dancing or relaxing by the camfire, toasting marshmallows!
Venue: Bonamanzi Game Reserve, Hluluwe
